Brooks Ghost Max - Cushion & Protection To The MAX

    by Lionel Brahim Brodie III

I want to promise you that I won't overload this EXPOSÉ with 80s colloquialisms. I really want to. But we are HYPE for this RAD new shoe from Brooks. The Ghost Max is a BODACIOUS new entry into the Max Cushion running shoe category, and it released today, Thursday, September 28. My suggestion: buy a pair from Philadelphia Runner NOW.....DUH! WORD ON THE STREET is these shoes have also been spotted, IRL (in real life), at Center City, Manayunk, and University City.

Not–so–casual flex alert: we have had access to the FRESH Grey/Black/Sharp Green colorway (nickname: "STORM SHADOWS") of the Ghost Max for a few weeks now. As though the Max Cushion category was created for me (typical Leo making it all about oneself, right? haha), with each run in the Ghost Max I feel both protected by the shoe's comfy midsole, as well as assisted by the rocker as I work on that elusive, perfect heel–to–toe transition ratio. The shoe is roomy – my feet are wide and flat. I’ve run in these with both thin socks and thick socks…..plenty of space and coziness each time I put the Ghost Max on. I'm already SCOPING OUT a second pair. One of the women's versions that we’ve had all month (flex), the Crystal Gray/White/Tuscany colorway, is elite! I'll let someone else give those a nickname.

Recommended usage for being on your feet all day, walking, short runs, and long “easy” runs. I'm BUGGING.....I'd wear these for races as well! My plan was to TOTALLY rock these for the Philadelphia Distance Run (PDR), paired with one of the tops from the Brooks PDR Collection. I don't know what happened to that plan. It’s ALL GOOD though! There's always the Rothman 8K, and a bunch of running and walking before that. WORD!

    The Tech Talk:

Say hello to the new carbon neutral Ghost Max, another one of the many styles committed to reduce greenhouse gasses. The Ghost Max delivers enhanced protection thanks to plenty of soft cushioning, a super stable ride, and rocker–like transitions that propel you forward. This neutral shoe is great for running or walking, as it helps absorb impact to protect your feet.

Protective cushioning – high–stack DNA LOFT v2 cushioning works with the GlideRoll Rocker to decrease pressure underfoot for protective comfort. This shoe's cushioning, GlideRoll Rocker, and lower offset can benefit people with plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, and Morton's neuroma. Brooks’ cushioning technologies all start with DNA because they react to your unique stride.

Assisted transitions – the GlideRoll Rocker actively promotes smooth heel–toe transitions for an effortless feeling as you move.

    The Specs:

    Weight – 10oz (men’s), 9oz (women’s)
    Heel–To–Toe Drop – 6mm

    The Key Features:

Sustainability – 56.4% recycled materials in the upper. 9.39 plastic bottles diverted from landfills.

Protective cushioning – a smooth and floaty–feeling run thanks to plush cushioning designed to help you enjoy and savor your run.

Stable ride – a broad base offers inherent stability for a secure feel that doesn’t interfere with a neutral stride. Also good for wider feet and those who use orthotics.
