10 REASONS TO RUN THE PHILLY 10K
We know we're biased but The Philly 10K is our favorite 10K. We also know that we say this every year - but it has never been more true: This year's Philly 10K will be the best one yet. To celebrate 10 years since we started back in 2014 we put together 10 reasons to run The Philly 10K, updated for 2024:
- Racing the streets of South Philly. You get one chance all year to run totally uninterrupted through South Philly. Right down the middle of the road, red lights be damned.
- Snacktime. If you have not heard of Snacktime, check them out! Called "Philly's favorite band" by Philly Mag, these guys absolutely kill it and bring the perfect post race party energy.
- Free beer. West Passyunk's own, Brewery ARS, will be serving up delicious refreshing beer at the post race party this year. Every 21+ runner will receive a complimentary beer (2 if you purchased the Passyunk Premium package when it was available).
- Faster beer line! Hear us out... The beer line always moves fast. It looks long but nearly everyone spends less than 10 minutes total in line. That isn't good enough though! We have added a second beer trailer this year to make the beer line move as fast as possible.
- Free custard or popsicle. Our oldest partner at The Philly 10K, Shake Shack will be bringing delicious cold custard. Lil Pop Shop will be slinging cold popsicles, including vegan and gluten free options!
- You get art. Participants who sign up for a regular entry or above will receive a special commemorative race poster designed by local artist Justine Kelley (She also just won Best of Philly!).
- The Diadora Kickoff Party. Located at FDR Park this year, the Diadora Kickoff Party is not your typical bib pick up. We will have music, drinks, food options, and a kids race and mile race. FDR is located right off the Broad Street line and there is generally decent parking nearby. Remember, if you cannot make it, you can purchase race morning packet pick up in your Runsignup registration account.
- Race shirt. We have the best race shirt. Full stop. See below. This shirt will only ever be available to this year's participants and never printed again.
- Because you never know when it will be the last time. The Philly 10K is a labor of love. An expensive, complicated, labor of love that we come back to every year because you do as well. But it may not be here forever. Rising costs and logistical challenges make it so that The Philly 10K isn't guaranteed to be around forever. One year, it will be the last year and you don't want to miss out!
- Community. The #1 reason why we do this. The Philly 10K is one big 4,000 person community. You either know almost every runner there or it feels like you do because everyone is out there for the same reasons: A love for running, Philly, and the people that make our hometown the best in the world.
